Parts of Life Size Gundam to return to Tokyo.

The official website of the Gundam anime franchise recently announced that parts of the life-size RX-78-2 Gundam model will return to Tokyo for the “Odaiba Gundam Project 2011”.

The “Odaiba Gundam Project 2011” is a special event that will run from August 13-21. Organizers have noted that attendees will be able to get up close to features of the disassembled statue that they could not see or interact with when the statue was fully assembled, standing at 18 m (about 59 ft) tall, in 2009. In addition, visitors will be able to touch and even sit on the Gundam’s right hand. Photo opp!

The event will be held at Symbol Promenade Park on Odaiba, Tokyo’s artificial island. It’s free to preschoolers, and 500 yen for children and adults. Part of the proceeds from the event will benefit charities for victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake disaster.
