PRS Clash of the Red Rangers News: RPM not in gear?

We have some news about the Power Rangers Samurai and RPM crossover special entitled “Clash of the Red Rangers”, but I’m not sure how much you’ll like it. According to FuryDiamond of Rangerboard, his sources have suggested that the no one from RPM has actually appeared for the filming of the special(!). Here’s what he had to say:

None of my sources have confirmed whether any of the RPM cast members are in the “teamup”. All of the ones that were contacted were busy working on other projects.

* One of my sources did mention that they got voice actors to take the place of the cast members.

* Few sources confirmed that they didn’t see any of the RPM cast members on set. This could mean that the RPM scenes were filmed separately or that the teamup is suit only.

Here are the possible scenarios:
1. SUIT ONLY: None of the cast members return. Voice Actors will take their place.
2. SUIT ONLY: Some of the cast members return to do their own voices while voice actors will take the place of the missing ones.
3. HALF SUIT: Some of the cast members return for the unmorphed scenes. Voice actors will take the place of the missing ones in suits.

Well, if this is really the case, then we might not get to see a real team-up special at all. I hope that they can at least get part of the original cast, so that it’s somewhat authentic. While we’d love to see everyone, I would be happy to at least see the main five. Knowing Saban’s luck so far, we’ll be lucky if the replacement voice actors match up.

Power Rangers Megaforce the next series title? Yep!

Recently, Saban Brands through Power Rangers LLC trademarked the title “Power Rangers Megaforce”, which, as you can imagine, has led a lot of people to speculate on whether or not this is in fact the title of the next Power Rangers series, a.k.a. the Goseiger adaption. Here’s a copy of the trademark:

I know it’s not very big, but you can still see that it doesn’t really mention anything in the copyright application about a live-action television series, but it does mention a truck load of merchandise, mostly video, computer and possibly app games, electronics cases, DVDs featuring live-action entertainment for kids, music, and eyewear/eyewear accesories. It sounds like the typical merchandise setup for a new series, only with no series confirmation, or any children’s toys for that matter.

So then, even with nothing confirming a new live-action series, do you think that this is unofficial confirmation for a new series, possibly the Goseiger adaption? Or do you believe that this is something else? Personally, I’m not sure what to think. The name itself is so unspecific that it could be applied to anything. For all we know, this could be something similar to the “Super Legends” line that came out in ’07 with PROO. Or maybe (and this is really wishful thinking) they could be working on their own version of Power Rangers Online, the MMORPG that was announced last month in South Korea. This is all speculation, of course, so we’ll just have to wait for confirmation from Saban.

And while the series name is still mystery, we do have some info on two ACTUAL casting sides for the next Ranger series. The casting sides for the Pink Ranger and the role of the Professor are available for download here, and it looks like from these casting sides that the series will return to it’s high-school-kids-turn-superheroes roots. Yeah, teenagers with attitude!

New Gobuster Rumors: Tokumei Sentai Gobuster members are bounty hunters?

Hey, so new rumors about the next Sentai series Tokumei Sentai Gobuster popped up last night, and it seems that the real theme of the show could be bounty hunters. According to the latest rumors, the team will start off with three members, (as been the recent tradition with series following anniversary series), Shoki Ryo a.k.a CrimeBuster (Red), Aizawa Aberu a.k.a. OniBuster (Yellow), and Nami a.k.a. AlienBuster (Blue). If true, this would be the first time since Dairanger that their team designations wouldn’t involve their individual color.

Also “revealed” is the name of their primary enemy, Rogue Gallery, which would make sense with the bounty-hunting theme, and their leader’s name is Percy Rifuro or Percy Lefuro. Not very intimidating, but keep in mind these are rumors, so who knows what of this is true, if any of it.

And I would like to address something now that I’ve seen in other peoples comments on these “bounty hunter theme” rumors: just because they might be bounty hunters, it does not mean that this will neccessarily be another anti-hero team like Go-Kaiger (which even calling them anti-heroic wouldn’t be accurate). They could be very heroic, with any bounty collected being more of a side reward for bringing in a villain. The idea that the bounty hunter theme automatically means that their primary motivation for fighting is money is a bit far from reality. Most people in real life who become bounty hunters are usually looking for a chance to bring in wanted criminals and do good. So let’s not pass judgement on this newly revealed team until more info comes out.
