Go-Kaiger Gingaman Tribute pics and Episode Summaries: You see, this is why I never go hiking through the woods…

This time, we’ve got some pics from the Gingaman tribute episode, and a few episode summaries from upcoming episodes. Iteni ikuzo!

Is that a Gingaman comicbook?

Yeah, I’m not sure what that’s suppose to be, but someon felt it was important to highlight it.

And here are some episode summaries, looks like we’re going to have three tribute episodes, almost all in a row!:

Episode 20: The Lost Forest – July 10
Navi tells the Gokaigers to search for the closed forests, Gai believes that Navi is talking about the Gingamen and they head to the Ginga Forest. Although, the Gingamen fought a group of space pirates and because of that, they can’t get along with the Gokaiger’s who are also space pirates. Hyuuga appears in front of them and tells Gai to give him the Gokai Cellular. Hyuuga states that he’ll do a better job than Gai. Gai, who has always adored Hyuuga, is so shocked to hear such words. Basco arrives and is targeting the Gingamen’s greater power. He summons MagiMother, DekaMaster, BullBlack and Wolzard Fire.

Episode 21: the Heart of an Adventurer – July 17
Action Commander Ryuuwon appears. The former BoukenRed and Chief, Satoru Akashi shows up!! Out of nowhere, Satoru is seen standing on the Go-KaiGalleon. He’s trying to retrieve the precious “The Heart of Hades”, but for that he needs help from the Gokaigers. But Zangyack and the Jaryuu clan are also after the Heart of Hades. And the Heart of Hades seems to be cause of Ryuuwon’s revival.

Episode 22: The Promise from the Stars – July 24
The Action Commander Stargull appears. A non-tribute episode

Episode 23: Human Lives are the Future of Earth – July 31
The Fireroid Meran appears. A KyuKyu Sentai GoGoV tribute episode featuring Luka and Ahim, with Matsuri Tatsumi aka GoPink.

Alright, that’s all for now, if I see anything else, well you know the drill.

henshinGARB Catalogue 4: Or why people like to stop at trilogies.

Hey everyone! It’s that time of the season when there is absolutely no big toku news. So guess what I’m going to do? That’s right! I’m going to push my own stuff onto you! Because of such underwhelming demand, and an ever-expanding product list, I decided that it was time to publish a new catalogue. And this time, I’m including EVERYTHING that’s currently in the shop. I’ve got a lot of old stuff, a lot of new stuff, and a lot of stuff you might not even be interested in. So let’s get to it!

First up we have the henshinhead logo tee, available in multiple sizes and colors, available for men and women. Only $12.00.

New to the shop is this tee with the mini logo on the left side of the chest, so that you can have the logo of your favorite blog site on your heart. Available in multiple sizes and colors, for men and women, and for only $12.00.

Here we have the newly re-designed HENSHINHEAD RULES! tee, I’ve changed the font, and played around with the sizes, and you’ve got to admit, it looks nicer. Available in men’s and women’s sizes, in multiple colors, and available for only $10.00.

Still available are these re-designed Heroes for Japan Tees. Now, I know that the Super Hero Time Japan Relief Effort has been over for some time, and that I originally designed these shirts for that charity, but these are still cool designs, and the message is still the same. Available for only $12.00.

Also still available are these Still Standing Tees, showing the Kamen Rider statue in Miyagi after the tsunami devastated the area, still standing after a massive earthquake and a raging tsunami. The ultimate symbol of Japan’s strength and resilience. Available for only $16.00.

And of course, one of our favorites, the GOOOO-KAIJA! Tees. Both men’s and women’s sizes are available in multiple sizes and colors. Men’s shirt for only $12.00, and women’s slim fit AA shirt for $19.00.

And now for one of my favorites, the Don’t make me Push my Buttons! Tee. It’s a pun with a toku twist! Now available for women’s sizes. Available for $16.00.

We’ve now made it to our Toku Allegience line, and here we’re starting with Super Sentai. Based off of the Goranger costumes, it now includes Akaranger and Momoranger designs. Each available for only $12.00.

Also still available as part of the Toku Allegience line are these designs based off of Kamen Rider and Ultraman. Each also only $12.00.

Sorry ladies, I’m still working on female equivalent designs for Kamen Rider and Ultraman. But you can always get the Momoranger shirt.

Next up we have the popular Bouken Spirits Tees, featuring the Boukenger compass logo on the chest, which are equal in size and position as they appear on the Boukengers’ uniforms. Available in multiple sizes and colors, $12.00 for men’s, $19.00 for women’s.

And new to the shop is the Bioman Badge Tee. Because I’ve been watching a lot of the dubbed episodes of Bioman lately, I’ve become somewhat of a fan of the show, and wanted to express that in t-shirt form. Available in multiple sizes and colors, $12.00 for men’s, $19.00. for women’s.

And along with this line of retro series, I decided to through in these new Aura Power! Tees. With the Maskman logo in the proper place on the t-shirt as it was on the uniform,  even you can use the power of aura and kung fu skills to fight evil. Available in multiple sizes and colors, $12.00 for men’s, $19.00 for women’s.

And because I am apparently one of the few people who actually likes either version of this series, we have these Gingaman in a Lost Galaxy Tees. With the iconic Charlie Brown-esque jagged line marks across the midsection, these shirts properly pay tribute to this series. Available in multiple sizes, men’s muscle shirt $17.00,  women’s standard weight t-shirts only $12.00.

And now for a random series of buttons.

As you may or may not be able to tell, I really like buttons. We’ve got six different button designs, all available in small and large size buttons. The majority cost $5.00 for the small buttons, and $6.00 for the large buttons. The only exceptions are the Still Standing buttons, which are $4.00 for small, $5.00 for large.

So that is everything currently available in the shop, hope you guys like this stuff. If you’re interested in any of this stuff, or just want to check out the store, just click the henshinGARB link in the blogroll on the side, under the section labeled “Stuff I actually have anything to do with”, and it should take you straight there. And if it’s anymore of an enticement, there is a Spreadshirt special going on for the month of May, buy four short-sleeve shirts and get one free. Details in the coupon below. (Note: you do not need a physical copy of the coupon, just the coupon code listed below.)

UPDATE: Okay, I understand that the KRFan SUCKS! Tees were in bad taste, so I’ve gotten rid of them. But the sentiment is still there.

UPDATE: (5/21/11) Hey, added some new stuff, ckeck it out:

It’s all part of my new Abare Guts! line of products. We have men’s shirts available in red, blue, and black for $12.00, a yellow women’s shirt available for $19.00, and two sets of buttons for $5 and $6. So if that doesn’t entice you to buy something, I don’t know what will. And for anybody who just can’t find the link to the shop it’s right here: http://henshingarb.spreadshirt.com/

Could somebody buy something please?! I just can’t keep waiting on PaladinZeo to get paid. Come on, I will do whatever you want, make whatever you want, if you want me to modify the designs or make them available in different sizes or colors I’ll do it, just please say something. It’s all about the customer here at henshinGARB.

henshinGARB Update: See, I do have a customer!

Hey there everybody. As you all should know by now, I run a shop in conjunction with this website called henshinGARB (yes, spelled that way), and I recently had to re-open it. You see, I had closed it down at one point because I basically had no customers for over a month, and even though people were visiting, no one was actually buying anything. Plus there was this guy, KRFan he called himself, who basically said my designs were terrible. To which my reply still is that he is a big jerk. But anyway, after all of that, I decided to close the shop, at least for the time being. But then out of the blue, someone calling himself PaladinZeo left a comment on the blog talking about how he was interested in my merchandise, and that he had finally gotten the money to buy what he was interested in just as I had closed my shop. So, as per his request, I reopened the shop, and he went in and got what he wanted, and over the weekend he recieved his first order! And, as per my request, he sent some pics of what he ordered! So let’s take a look:

So we’re clear, this is NOT me. I wanted to be honest and wait for someone else to buy my stuff. You gotta admit, they turned out pretty good. Anyway, if you want to some for yourself, just click the link under the the category “Stuff I actually have anything to do with” and you can get some unofficial, appropriatly-sized clothing and fun buttons! I’ve recently added a bunch of new products and designs, and just about everything is available in men’s and women’s sizes, and I can guarantee the some of the lowest prices around, so check it out!

henshinGARB New Catalogue: I’m shoving this thing so far down your throat…

Boy is it just me or has it been a slow news week for tokusatsu? And I had this week off, too. I guess I’ll just have to fill the void with my own stuff. And since I happened to reopen my shop, I guess I’ll just have to talk about that.

Now, this isn’t some planned publicity stunt to bring attention to the shop, quite frankly I’m not good at planning stuff, the shop was reopened at visitor request, specifically at the request of PaladinZeo. And as any long-time visitors of the site (do any of you exist?, because I know that at least PaladinZeo over there is a subscriber) know, I go to great lengths for my visitors. Doesn’t seem like it, but that’s because all you see is the finished product. And so, for those of you who are interested, the site is open and active, and I’ve included some new products and updated some old ones. So let’s see what I’ve got!

Starting with the updated products first, we have…

T-Shirts ~ Men's Standard Weight T-Shirt ~ henshinhead logo teeWomen's T-Shirts ~ Women's Standard Weight T-Shirt ~ henshinhead logo tee

The henshinhead logo tee! I’ve updated the appearance of the logo, so now there isn’t an awkward out-of-place black box. Available in a variety of colors and sizes for only $12.00.

T-Shirts ~ Men's Standard Weight T-Shirt ~ Super Hero Time Support: Heroes for JapanWomen's T-Shirts ~ Women's Standard Weight T-Shirt ~ Super Hero Time Support: Heroes for Japan

And here we have an update Heroes For Japan Tee. I’ve made the background of the design transparent so it blends with the shirt better, and I threw out the belt. Available for only $12.00.

T-Shirts ~ Men's Standard Weight T-Shirt ~ Toku Allegience: Ultraman Tee

A bit of an unexpected one (not really) that I’ve update is this one from the Toku Allegience line, the Ultraman Tee. I got rid of the grey in the design, so now it flows from the t-shirt. Once again, only $12.00.

These prices are so low, you might as well be stealing! Hey, come back here with that!

And now for new stuff!

T-Shirts ~ Men's Standard Weight T-Shirt ~ Bouken Spirits! TeeWomen's T-Shirts ~ Female AA Slim Fit Tee ~ Bouken Spirits! Women's Tee

Presenting the brand new Bouken Spirits! tees. With this famous compass design, you’ll never be lost, brave adventurer! Available in multiple colors and in Men’s and Women’s sizes. That’s $11.00 for Men’s standard weight tee, $18.00 for Women’s AA Slim Fit Tee.

Buttons ~ Small Buttons ~ henshinhead logo small buttonButtons ~ Large Buttons ~ henshinhead logo large button

And because I like buttons, I have a whole new batch of them! First we have the henshinhead logo buttons, available in two sizes, and each come in a standard 5 pack. That’s $5 for the smaller buttons, and $6 for the larger buttons. I know, there a dollar more than the other, but that’s just from the commission on the logo design.

Buttons ~ Small Buttons ~ Bouken Spirits! Small ButtonsButtons ~ Large Buttons ~ Bouken Spirits! Large Buttons

And because I like the way this design came out, I made it into a button too! The Bouken Spirits! button comes in two sizes, five-to-a-pack, and is available for only $4 for the small buttons, and $5 for the large buttons.

And that should be everything that’s new in the shop. Anything else that isn’t here that you’ve seen before is probably still in the shop. There are some other changes that I’ve made that I haven’t covered here, you’ll just have to look and see for yourself. And in case you’re wondering, the Go-Kaiger stuff is still there as well.

Super Sentai Anniversarys: A closer look at the team make ups.

Since this year is considered the 35th anniversary of Super Sentai, we tend to look back at all the past seasons of the series. And while I was doing that, I noticed an unusual, and somewhat unnoticed, trend with Sentai Anniversary Series. Until now with Go-Kaiger, almost every Anniversary Sentai has included a member that wore black. Just take a look back at the last major anniversary.

The last anniversary series was GoGo Sentai Boukenger, whose team included BoukenBlack as a member of the core team. Now I know that a single instance isn’t enough to build a whole case, so let’s go back another five years.

The 25th Anniversary series, Hyakujyuu Sentai Gaoranger, also featured a black senshi, GaoBlack, and was the first to have a Vs. Super Sentai special (Well, the first to have that as an official title). Now, mathematically speaking, if the usual pattern for teams by season was to alternate between green and black, then either this series should have included a green senshi, or Boukenger should have had a green senshi with Go-Kaiger having a black senshi. But since they have played around with how they make the teams, you know, with three member core teams and repeating color schemes, this has thrown this pattern off. But these aren’t the only two examples.

Ninja Sentai Kakuranger was considered the 15th Anniversary before they readjusted for the gap year between JAKQ and Battle Fever J, and of course includes NinjaBlack, who was also the first actual American to play in a Super Sentai series. Before then, the only Americans in the series were just characters, not actual actors. It also had the Super Sentai World special that premiered a week before the start of the series. But the main thing here is that this series also had a black senshi. But this isn’t the last example.

Kousoku Sentai Turboranger is the 10th Anniversary series, and included BlackTurbo. This series had a special called Super Sentai Tamashii that also premiered a week before the actual series, and included all the previous sentais. Now this was considered the first official anniversary series. While they have celebrated the series anniversary every five years since this series, they did not include what is the fifth anniversary, Sun Vulcan. However, since including that series would go against my premise, I won’t cover them.

I will, however, go over the one exemption to my premise, the one other Anniversary Series that includes a green senshi.

This, of course, is Gekisou Sentai Carranger (or should I say CAAAARRRR-RREEENJAA!), which is considered the 20th Anniversary series, after the adjustment for the gap year, and features GreenRacer, which makes it the first official Anniversary series to have a green senshi, beating Go-Kaiger by 15 years (holy crap, has it been that long?!).

But what we still have to wonder is, why is their such an affinity for black senshi in these Anniversary Series? Is it simply a coincidence, or do they purposely choose that team setup again and again. Well, it’s probably a mix between coincidence and aesthetics. After all, why do any of the teams have the color scheme that they do have? When the creators of the series start to work on a new series, they probably already have certain themes in mind, and they probably go through a few uniform designs before they decide what looks and works best for that series. There isn’t any written rule that they necessarily have to use alternate color schemes from season to season, otherwise there wouldn’t be teams with both on them, or teams with neither of them. The only thing that we can really be sure is that, at least as far as Anniversary seasons are concerned, their will be five of them, as a way to pay homage to the original Goranger.

Go-KaiSilver Debut: Meet the newest member of the crew.

The sixth senshi for Go-Kaiger has been confirmed (sorry I’m a day late, I got trapped in the Tokuverse, I’ll tell you later). This sixth senshi will be Go-kaiSilver. Here are some pics:

Go-KaiSilver will basically be able to change into any of the past major sixth rangers. At the moment, these include (in sequential order) Dragon Ranger, Kiba Ranger, King Ranger, MegaSilver, TimeFire, GaoSilver, Shurikenger, AbareKiller, DekaBreak, MagiShine, BoukenSilver, Go-onGold and Go-onSilver, ShinkenGold, and GoseiKnight. He can change into any of these past senshi using his Go-KaiCellular, a device very similar to the Mobirates, but looks and works differently. Pic here:

When Go-KaiSilver changes, he places a variation of his RangerKey into the Go-KaiCellular, pushes the Go-KaiSilver icon on the number pad, and hit s button on top of the device, where an anchor-shaped scanner reads the figure and changes him into Go-KaiSilver. The device also comes with an anchor shaped key that inserted into the bottom that allows him to change into Go-KaiSilver Gold Form.

While no one really knows if this second form will give him any extra abilities, it does look cool. In gold form, he will have special armor that includes a chest plate decorated with the helmets of the previous sixth senshi he can change into, and his helmet design changes as well. You can almost make out the kanji for gold in the visor design.

So, first impressions. In his standard silver form, his appearance is very reminiscent of BoukenSilver, and not just because their both silver, either. Because all of the Go-Kaiger have gold inlay decorating their costumes, his costume doesn’t seem that different from the others. The only real difference seems to be in the design of the helmet, the cuffs, and the collar and seams of the “jacket”. Not to mention the fact that his visor is a gold color instead of the standard black. In his special gold form, his appearance is like a cross between Kamen Rider Decade’s Complete Form and Zuban from Boukenger. A lot of people are surprised to see this extra form, but I think it’s fitting. Between these two forms, his appearance covers the two main types of sixth senshi: the kind that have a slightly altered outfit, and the kind that have an armored, highly decorated outfit. Between the differences in his outfit and the anchor motif, this makes me wonder whether this is supposed to be a pirate character or not. I’m almost getting a sailor vibe from him.

A number of people have voiced questions and complaints over the choices of the sixth senshi. The main ones are that Mask X-1, who is the first official sixth senshi despite a one episode appearence, wasn’t included, neither was Bull Black or DekaMaster. And some people think that GoseiKnight shouldn’t have been included because he technically isn’t a normal senshi, although I think he should be, as much time as he’s spent fighting with the Goseiger, and the fact that he has a name that actually has a Goseiger title, and not some off-the-wall name. Plus, there are a host of other senshi that weren’t included as sixth senshi, and a number of non-sentai and non-senshi helpers that haven’t even been acknowledged, so there’s a very, VERY slight chance that there could be either a seventh senshi or some kind of special helper that will take the place of these extra senshi. My only concern is why the buttons for Go-onGold and Go-onSilver are the same button? Does he magically split and change into Go-on Wings?(It would be so awesome if he did) Seriously, what are they going to do about that?

And as for the Go-KaiCellular, it’s a little unconventional. Instead of the staple flip phone design that’s been in use since the first cell phone changer, they went with a smartphone-esqe design. I would compare it to a Nokia phone, but it has a much wider “screen”, kind of like the Droid Pro. I’ll admit though, while the concept is unique, I’m not fond of the button design. Because it has all of the senshi he can change into on the buttons, and doesn’t use the same RangerKey system the others do, he’s very limited to the number of senshi he can change into. Overall, I like the phone, and the concept.

I hope the character behind the mask is just as impressive as the costume, otherwise I will be beyond disappointed. Quite frankly, if they make him into that strong, mysterious silent type, and not some flamboyant, over-the top character, then I’m just going to have a very long talk with the writers, producers and directors at Toei. And while I’m there, I may just have to bring up the subject of net neutrality and fair use. I honestly can’t think of anyone with the gall to upload any upcoming episodes of the series onto YouTube. Somebody get on that right now!

UPDATE: (2/25/11) Just found a pic of his main weapon, Go-KaiSpear.

It has three modes, a trident mode, a blaster mode, and a special anchor-spear mode that he uses in his Gold Form. It looks like it will also come with the Dragon Ranger Key (Zyuranger/MMPR Green Ranger). Let’s keep an eye out for this!

UPDATE: (3/7/11) Found this pic just now, seems they will release sixth ranger toys with the Go-KaiSilver stuff.

And if you’ll notice, they are going to release ShinkenOh and Daizyujin/MMPR Megazord. So can’t wait for that, even if I probably won’t buy it.
