Gobuster 2012 Rumors: Who you gonna call?

So as you can imagine, rumors have been flying around ever since it was determined that Tokumei Sentai Gobuster was going to be the official title for the next series. Well, we now have a number of rumors from a reliable source, and we’re definitely starting to get a good idea of how the series could play out. Here’s what been rumored so far:

  • The team is composed of red, blue, and yellow
  • The Gobusters will first appear in Gokaiger VS Gavan. They seem to be linked to the 30th anniversary of Metal Hero series.
  • Though the team starts at 3, the Gobusters have Partners. The original post relates this to Den-o, so it would be my guess the partners are partner spirits or youkai.
  • The henshin device, at this point in time, is rumored to be a smart  phone type. The device may actually have an interactive panel display,  but to what ends is unknown, but it sounds cool none the less.
  • Potential Color Scheme #1: There is a lot of speculation that the color scheme will be  Jetman-esque. With Red, Yellow, Black being male, Blue and White being  female.
  • Potential Color Scheme #2: There is speculation that the team will be colored  according to the olympic colors, like Go-onger and Liveman were (Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, Green)

So then, a three-man team with some kind of partners (possibly spirits/yokai) with smart phone henshin devices and a possible connection to the Metal Heroes. Wonder how that will work?

Keep in mind that these are rumors, and even though the source is reliable, these could turn out to be false. We still have a couple of months before any official announcement, so we’ll just have to wait to see what’s what.

New Gobuster Rumors: Tokumei Sentai Gobuster members are bounty hunters?

Hey, so new rumors about the next Sentai series Tokumei Sentai Gobuster popped up last night, and it seems that the real theme of the show could be bounty hunters. According to the latest rumors, the team will start off with three members, (as been the recent tradition with series following anniversary series), Shoki Ryo a.k.a CrimeBuster (Red), Aizawa Aberu a.k.a. OniBuster (Yellow), and Nami a.k.a. AlienBuster (Blue). If true, this would be the first time since Dairanger that their team designations wouldn’t involve their individual color.

Also “revealed” is the name of their primary enemy, Rogue Gallery, which would make sense with the bounty-hunting theme, and their leader’s name is Percy Rifuro or Percy Lefuro. Not very intimidating, but keep in mind these are rumors, so who knows what of this is true, if any of it.

And I would like to address something now that I’ve seen in other peoples comments on these “bounty hunter theme” rumors: just because they might be bounty hunters, it does not mean that this will neccessarily be another anti-hero team like Go-Kaiger (which even calling them anti-heroic wouldn’t be accurate). They could be very heroic, with any bounty collected being more of a side reward for bringing in a villain. The idea that the bounty hunter theme automatically means that their primary motivation for fighting is money is a bit far from reality. Most people in real life who become bounty hunters are usually looking for a chance to bring in wanted criminals and do good. So let’s not pass judgement on this newly revealed team until more info comes out.

2012 Sentai ACTUALLY CONFIRMED: It’s for real this time!

Hey, just came out within the last 20 minutes, dukemon22 has found actual copyrights for the next Super Sentai series! And it looks like the official title for the 36th Super Sentai series will be (drumroll please): “Tokumei Sentai Gobuster“! That translates to “Special Mission Taskforce Gobusters”.

Here’s a copy of the copyright claim:

I know, I had to srink it down so that it would fit on the page, but I can guarantee you that it’s real.

And if any of the rumors that have been floating around are any indication as to what the series will be about, then think something along these lines:

With all the rumors of ghosts and yokai and such being major themes in the series, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch of the imagination to think that Gobuster was a play on Ghostbusters. No one can verify that at this time, but at least we have a name. And since the copyrights have come so late this year, it could be a sign that Go-Kaiger will last longer than 50 episodes, so even if you’re not excited by this, at least you can be excited for more Go-Kaiger.

What do you think, Egon?
