Go-Kaiger Ep.33 Raw: Suits? We don’t need no stinkin’ suits!

Well, here it is, the actual episode! IN this episode, which also happens to be the Dairanger tribute episode, Gai loses his Go-KaiCellular during a fight (eaten by this week’s Action Commander) and has doubts about whether or not he can truly consider himself a hero, that is, until he meets Tenkasei Ryo, the former Ryu Ranger of Dairanger, who remonds him of what it really means to be a hero. Check out the episode below:

Wow, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a really good out-of-suit fight. Of course, it does help to have someone who was in one of the best out-of-suit fights in all of tokusatsu be in the scene too. 😉

Kaizoku Sentai Go-Kaiger Ep.33 Preview: Wait, where’s Ep.32?

Well, the only video of Ep.32 I could find has already been taken down (by the user), so for now, I’m just going to put up the Ep.33 preview. In it, Gai doubts if he’s as heroic as he’d like to be, and runs into former Ryu Ranger, Tenkasei Ryo of Dairanger! Talk about heroic!:

Go-Kaiger Dairanger Tribute Episode: Five-Star Pirates!

Looks like we’ve got some new info on the upcoming Dairanger tribute episode (Ep.33), and it looks like Gai’s back in the spotlight. Here’s the summary:

Episode 33: Hero daaaaa!!!! – 10/09
While at the super market, Luka and Gai meet the monster Bacula who is eating everything. Gai’s GokaiCellular ends up being eaten as well. Feeling down about what happened Gai is confronted by a single man…

Spoiler Alert! That mysterious person will be one of the Dairangers. 😛

The real question is, which one will it be? Will it be Tenkasei Ryo, a.k.a. Ryu Ranger? Or will it be another Dairanger?

And it also looks like this is going to be an episode with a lot of out-of-suit action, which is rarely seen anymore nowadays. Should be exciting!

Ikari Gai: Dead man Walking? Or walking on sunshine?

Ikari Gai, an interesting character, to say the least. The sixth Go-Kaiger, he’s a majorly geeky fanboy, and yet one of the coolest characters on the show. He became instantly loved (and hated) after his very first appearance because of the blatant fact that he is both the official representative of all Sentai fanatics, and the ultimate expression of the fanboy fantasy come true. Here is this incredibly nerdy fanboy, given a chance to be the very thing he obsesses about daily, and by three of the biggest legends in the Sentai universe no less. That would be like Dr.Tommy Oliver showing up at your door, handing you a morpher, and saying “It’s your turn now”. But with such a popular character, there’s bound to be rumors about him spread across the web, and there is one massive rumor associated with him that we’re focused on now: that, at some point, he could be killed off before the end of the series. There’s plenty of signs out associated with him that could very much point to that possibility, but there are also plenty of other signs that he won’t be. Here’s how it’s laid out so far:

Reasons why people think Gai will be killed off:

  1. His name. Now this might not seem like much, but that name has been given to other past Sentai senshi who were killed off, most notably Yuki Gai (Black Condor) who appeared in the Jetman tribute episode, as a ghost! What if the writers gave him that name because they planned on killing him off?
  2. When he recieved the Go-KaiCellular, he was in a coma, and was visited by the spirits of Mikito/AbareKiller, TimeFire, and Dragon Ranger. All three were past Sixth Rangers that were killed off by the end of their respective series. So was that another sign that Gai is doomed?
  3. Because rumors about him dying keep popping up. Honestly, I think most of it’s just persistent Gai haters and trolls putting it out there, but some of it could be genuine.

As you can see, there are some “arguements” for why people think Gai will one day walk the plank (sorry, couldn’t resist). But here’s some compelling arguements I’ve come up with for why myself and many others think Gai will live:

  1. Because he’s a geeky fanboy. When you get down to it, Gai has only a very loose association with these dead characters that have been mentioned or referenced to him. He has a completely different personality all together from the other characters that were mentioned. They were these tough, macho characters that often started out as the bad guy! Gai is as far from that as you can get.
  2. This is actually a new one I came up with after watching the last episode. Throughout that episode, while Yuki Gai was interacting with the other Go-Kaigers, Gai couldn’t even see him, he had no idea he was even there until the others told him about it. And you’d think Gai of all people would have seen him, especially since he was in a coma at one point. That sort of thing tends to happen in fiction. So what does that say about Gai’s fate?
  3. Toei has had a policy since the end of Hurricanger not to kill off any major heroic characters, due to then Japanese involvement in the Iraq war (needless to say, no involvement there anymore). And they’ve kept to that promise since then (the only exceptions have been bad guys that switched to the good side, which is rather lazy from a writing standpoint if you ask me). And since Gai has been a heroic character from the start, there’s no way they could kill him.
  4. Because they couldn’t kill him off even if they wanted too. He’s become too popular a character, to endearing a character, to just kill off. There would be so many people complaining about it, so many people ticked off enough to force the writers to bring the character back from the dead permanently. And I’m pretty sure that they wouldn’t want to deal with that at Toei.

In case you haven’t been able to tell, I’m on the side that believes Gai will live, that they won’t even think about killing him off. And I mean, really, why would they kill him off? What purpose would that hold in this story? This isn’t a dark, mature series, it’s about colorfully dress pirates looking for adventure and treasure. You can only get so serious with it. And besides, I like Gai. I can relate to him. His overbearing geekiness, his need to be a good person all around, his sometimes weird and off-center ways of doing things and view of the world. Honestly, I would be one of those extremely pissed off people that would complain every chance I’d get if they decided to kill of Gai. That’s just not going to happen, not under my watch.

Long live Go-KaiSilver!

Go-Kaiger Rumors: What’s the real reason behind Basco’s betrayl?! You mean he isn’t just a greedy blackheart that gives pirates a bad name?

Yeah, I know this pic isn’t even remotely related to the story, I just wanted to use it.

Anyway, some interesting rumors have popped up regarding Basco, and the possible reason for his betrayl. So far, the main reason that’s been presented in the series for his betrayl is simply out of greed; Zangyack offered him a ship, amnesty, and the status of privateer. And so far, his performance on the show has demonstrated how much of a lecherous dog he can be. But, what if all of that is just an act? Here’s what’s come up (these rumors come from a source I’m not overly familiar with, so I really wouldn’t take these rumors seriously if I were you):

  • Basco’s betrayal was planned by AkaRed. He gave him a secret mission but to perfectly fulfill it, he had to betray the Red Pirates.
  • AkaRed and Navi are still in the secret. Basco should join the Gokaigers sooner or later.
  • In addition, it seems that Gai dies at the end of the series.

So, what do you think? Was Basco only trying to gain favor with Zangyack as part of a secret mission for AkaRed, or is that just hogwash? And do you think they would ever actually kill off Gai?! I honestly can’t believe the rumor about Gai. I know he’s a living illusion to these fallen Sentai warriors that have appeared in the show, but there’s also a lot that tells me that they won’t kill him off. I’ll post my opinions about it later. As for Basco, I could almost believe it, but he just plays the traitor too well. If anyone else joins the Go-Kaigers, I have a feeling it will be someone that we haven’t run into yet. Yeah, I’ll post something about that too.

Anyway, those are the newest rumors that have come out so far, if anything else comes out (preferably something more substantial), I’ll be sure to let you know.

Go-Kaiger GoGoV Tribute Henshin: Titanium Ranger included?

Well, we have a very interesting video here, to say the least. It appears to be all six Go-Kaigers changing into the GoGoV members, including Go-KaiSilver. Take a look to see what I mean:

So is it true, have they included the Titanium Ranger as a member of GoGoV? Is he really GoSilver now? Or is this just a big, fake prank? I can’t say for sure (nor do I want to), so I’ll let you decide.

Go-KaiReddo GOLD MOOOOOODO!: In-game bonus, or in-show power-up?

Well, this picture has recently cropped up, and a lot of people have been asking questions since. Can you guess which question is at the top of that list?

Anyway, even though this pic has been partially shadowed, you can still tell that it’s just Go-KaiRed in the Gold Mode armor, but it’s still been turning heads. So far though, the only other place that this has been seen is on the cover of the Data CarDass Dice-Oh Deluxe Card Binder, seen here:

Don’t ask me about the RangerKeys, I haven’t got a clue.

Anyway, there hasn’t been any solid confirmation on whether or not this is just a special mode accessed in the Dice-Oh! game, or if this will make an appearance in the series. So far, the evidence only points to thr former, that this will just be for the game. But you never know, they could do it, maybe as part of the Zyuranger tribute episode, you never know….

That’s it as far as big news about Go-Kaiger is concerned. If anything else pops up, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Poll Results: You like me, you really like me!

Alright, those polls have been floating around long enough, it’s time to see the results. Going in the order they appear in the post:

What do you think of Go-Kaiger now?

  • Awesome! 50% (7 votes)
  • Greatest. Series. EVER! 43% (6 votes)
  • Alright. 7% (1 vote)
  • Good, Not my favorite, and Terrible all recieved 0% (0 votes)

That was the question that had the most amount of votes. It’s kinda sad that only 14 people responded to it, though.

What do you think of Gai/Go-KaiSilver?

  • I like him, I feel like he represents me and fans of Super Sentai. 73% (8 votes)
  • I think he’s kinda cute, He’s a little too geeky and excitable for my tastes, and Why on Earth would they ever come up with a character like him? all revied 9% (1 vote)

So everyone likes Gai for the most part. Only the majority counts, right? (He said sarcastically)

How do you feel about Kamen Rider OOO, now that we’re getting closer to the end?

  • SUBARASHI! 67% (6 votes)
  • The Best Kamen Rider Series I’ve ever seen, It’s good but not great, and Can’t wait to see it end all recieved 11% (1 vote)

How do you feel about Gotou replacing Date as Kamen Rider Birth?

  • Should have been Birth from the start. 50% (5 votes)
  • I think I need to see more of Gotou as Birth before I decide and Not a good replacement for Date each recieved 20% (2 votes)
  • Gotou Rocks! 10% (1 vote)

So we like Gotou, but he’s not exactly our favorite character, I see. There is one perk to Gotou being Birth that we all forgot; Satonaka is his partner now, so we get to see more of her.

Are you looking forward to Kamen Rider Fourze?

  • Yes, I can’t wait! 50% (5 votes)
  • Not sure how I feel about it and No, Fourze looks stupid each recieved 20% (2 votes)
  • Hate to see OOO go, but it’s time to move on. 10% (1 vote)

Personally, I’m really looking forward to Fourze. It will be the first Rider I get to cover as a blogger from beginning to end. OOO rocks, but the blog did not exist when he came onto the scene, so I wasn’t able to cover him the same way. Anyway, next question.

If the rumors of a new Metal Hero series were to come true, how would you feel about it?

  • That would be awesome! 33% (3 votes)
  • It’s been over a decade, would it really work out? 33% (3 votes)
  • Metal Heroes are outdated, time for something new. 22% (2 votes)
  • Yes, it’s been way too long. 11% (1 vote)

Okay, very split on this one. I can understand, it has been a long time, and not everyone was a fan of the Metal Heroes when they were popular. There hasn’t been anything about it since that rumor surfaced, so I don’t think there’s anything to it.

Let’s move on to the site questions.

How do you like the site?

  • Love it! 80%(!) (8 votes) I’ll take it!
  • Like it! 10% (1 vote)
  • Hate it. 10% (1 vote) KRFan, is that you?
  • It’s alright and Not my favorite each recieved 0% (0 votes)

To whoever said that they hated it, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that. Especially since there are a lot more people who love it! 😛

Anything you don’t like about the site?

  • No, the sites fine. 89% (8 votes)
  • I don’t like the appearance/format. 11% (1 vote)
  • Everything else recieved no votes.

I wonder who said that they didn’t like appearance? Hmm…

Is there anything you’d like to see added to the site?

  • No, I’m fine with what you have. 71% (5 votes)
  • Yes, I would like to see more original content. 14% (1 vote)
  • Yes, I would like to see more non-toku related content. 0% (0 votes)
  • Other. 14% (1 vote)

To the person that voted other, I’m not sure how I can do that, I think that I would need to use some custom CSS programming to pull it off, but I will look into it.

How do you feel about the addition of the new videos?

  • I like the new videos, they add to the overall experience. 83% (5 votes)
  • No Opinion. 17% (1 vote)
  • I don’t like the videos, go back to just pics and Why can’t you post episodes? each recieved no votes.

Well, hopefully I’ll be able to keep doing it, and that Congress doesn’t do anything stupid, like pass that new bill that’s been introduced that would basically criminalize the use of such video content, to the point of fines or jailtime. I’m not going to jail over some greedy corporation’s desire to overbearingly control the use of it’s content. For those who would like to formally protest this bill (or murder it with a chainsaw), there is an online petition going right now, you can get to it from here: http://demandprogress.org/

So, we know how those who voted feel now. I just hope they can peoperly represent the 300+ people (average) who visit the site daily. Now, run and go protest that bill!

It’s pollin’ time!

(This a copy of the original post, for anyone who hasn’t answered the poll questions yet.)

Hey, I have a few polls I wanna run by you, just to see how you feel about everything. Some will be about toku stuff, some will be about the site. Just want to hear from you.

Yes, I know that’s a lot of questions, but you don’t have to answer them all. I would like to hear from you about the site, though. And if you have any questions for me, or would like to discuss any of this, you can always leave a comment below.

Kaizoku Sentai Go-Kaiger New Opening: Just a little bit shinier!

Now that Gai is officially a member of the team, he’s now been included in the opening credits! Take a look at the new opening:

This is from the newest episode of Go-Kaiger, and they will probably include the other two “prologues” at the very beginning with the rest of this new sequence from now on.

Ikeni ikuzo!
