Saban to begin Casting Call for Power Rangers 2012!: YES!!!!!!!!!!!

According to Fury Diamond of Ranger Crew, Saban will be holding open casting calls for next year’s version of Power Rangers! Here’s what he posted:

“My source has informed me that Saban is holding an open casting call for the next Power Rangers series in a few weeks.  I’ll post more information when I get it.
If you plan on auditioning, get your audition tape ready.”

This is AWESOME! Oh, crap, I have to prepare! And if you interested, start getting ready NOW.

-M.C., the Quantum Twin

UPDATE: (8/14/11) I’m not sure how long ago this happened, but apparently Saban has CANCELLED the casting calls. Here’s a new quote from Fury Diamond of Rangerboard:

My source has informed me that they cancelled the “big open casting event”.

They didn’t give me a reason why this occurred.  Maybe they need more time before casting or they want to be low key for now.  I’ll keep you guys updated if I hear anything else.

He posted that two days ago apparently, sorry I didn’t report on it before now, I wasn’t aware of this before today. My apologies to anyone who was interested in auditioning. And I’ll try to keep you guys posted on any new info that comes out about this. Hopefully, they will go through with it in some form or another. Just gotta keep our fingers crossed.

UPDATE: (8/22/11) They are holding auditions, just much more low key. In fact, they’ll be going from Monday 8/22 thru Thursday 8/25. For more info check this post. Good Luck out there!

  2. where can i find the seasons on dvd? I perfer seasons 1 – 7 before they left earth. i looked at best buy and no luck, was hopeing you might know were to get them at. thanks

  3. Quick question, if we want to audition for any part were do we go. Is there a main site that has all the info? Or do we have to get with a casting agent, and if o do you know any that would help. Thanks

  4. Oh my gosh I would love to be a power ranger mainly pink. I have all sorts of training in Karate, I’m graceful since I took ballet, I took two years of video production which inquires being able to act in front of the camera. I loved power rangers since it first came out on t.v. I even watch the Japanese version of power rangers but i hope they make a girl the red ranger like sometimes do in Japan.

  5. i have always wanted to play a role in power rangers either in a power rangers uniform or a funny side actor if i got the chance you would be suprised im 21 now and my name is brent wells

    1. Well Brent, always glad to see people interested in auditioning. Unfortunately, the people producing the show have postponed these auditions until sometime late next month. No word on what they’re going to do then, but supposedly there’ll be some big announcement around that time. For more general info, you might want to check out this post: https://henshinhead.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/power-rangers-2013-casting-postponed-so-what-are-we-gonna-do-saban/ & https://henshinhead.wordpress.com/2011/12/17/notice-to-anyone-looking-for-info-on-the-next-round-of-power-rangers-auditions/

Just keep checking back, I’m sure something will surface soon.

  6. I have a question. I would love to audition for this upcoming season but I might know something. You see, I just turn 21 and my plan was to get a tattoo for my 21st birthday. I don’t know where I want to have my tattoo and a reason is because of these auditions. Now I know there have been actors on the show that has tattoos, Rick Medina for an example and I think Selwyn Ward (Power Rangers Turbo Red Ranger / Space Blue Ranger) had a tattoo while he was on the show. So my question is, do they use make-up to cover the tattoos or would that be too much of a hassle for the make-up department???

    1. Uhhhhhh………..

You know, I think if you just get the tattoo done somewhere where you can hide it under your clothes, you’ll be okay. Also, I would avoid anything too elaborate, but that’s just my own opinion. Yeah, so unless you plan on tattooing the side of your face, I don’t think you’ll need to worry about the make-up department getting involved. Heck, if you get the right kind of tattoo (like, say, a yellow lightning bolt) that could count as brownie points. 😉

Also, Happy 21st! Just turned 21 myself on the 2nd! Yay to being fully legal!

  7. how’s it goin? long time fan. i’ve been reading the comments above and i notice generally how everoyne wants to be either the red or a rare color power ranger, but for 16 years of my life, i’ve always strived to be the green ranger. Right now i am 16 years old and im a dude thats very artistic, funny, and a great athlete. And i would love to be a part of the new power rangers team. please comment back

  8. my name is bryan watson and 15 years old and tired of sitting on the couch and watching the power rangers do flips and kicking evil monster/alien butt without someone to keep them upgraded on everything so in the next season of power rangers they should have like touchscreen morphers and also later on in the series they sholud meet up with every power ranger there is in the entire fanchise of amercan and japanese power rangers there is someone please listen this or think about what i just said infinity ranger platnum out

    1. All those ideas have been floated around at some point or another (at least among fans), but you never know what the future will bring. You might not be able to get everyone ever involved in the franchise, but some in-suit mass appearances wouldn’t be too far out-of-the-question.

We’ll see what happens, Infinity Ranger Platinum.

      1. Why is the age different but in turbo Blake Foster was like 11? Now you have to be late teens and early 20s UNFAIR!

      2. Sorry, them’s the brakes, kid. The age requirement hasn’t really changed in the last 20 years, truth be told. The original cast was in that same age range, and that’s the age range they’ve been mainly sticking with since. Blake Foster was a special case, brought on as sort of a last minute decision. There’s a good chance that they probably won’t do that again.

But there’s a way better chance that Power Rangers will still be around by the time you’re old enough to be on it, so dpn’t give up hope yet!

  9. Oh yeah im sorry I forgot to ask, what should the audition tape consist of? I am just assuming, one half of martial arts talent, and one half of acting and showing how well you can portray a character. I never really had much acting lessons but I actually was in drama club and did a few plays for elementary and middle school but never did any now for high school. And also curious what is this next season called and what are the colors of the new rangers? lol I just have to know!

    1. Yeah, that sounds about right on the audition tape, I would just start out with the acting part first. Usually for that part, you would just read a scene from a pre-prepared script (called casting sides), and just act it out while reading it. Nothing too over-the-top though, that would just make you look like a nutjob. Then I would put in a few action scenes after that, just so they can see you in action.

And as for the team, we’ve got no idea. Until they postponed auditions (btw they postponed the auditions), we thought it was going to be called Power Rangers Megaforce and be a red-blue-yellow-black-pink team (google “Tensou Sentai Goseiger” for more info), but now no one’s sure what they do (google “Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger” too, just because). Too many rumors, they’ve got big secret plans. We’ll find out when we find out.

If you have any other questions, I would check out this new post: https://henshinhead.wordpress.com/2011/12/17/notice-to-anyone-looking-for-info-on-the-next-round-of-power-rangers-auditions/

  10. I am 14 turning 15 soon and been doing mma for a while, but is there a way where I can incorporate my system of fighting in to power rangers, I mean im a huge Power Rangers fan and always dreaming on joining the franchise and I know im not 16 and up but please is there a way were I can become an actor for Power Rangers, I mean if Blake Foster did it at a young age for Power Rangers Turbo, I now I can do it if I put my mind to it!

    1. Well, your age might be an issue for now. Part of the reason they try to stick with the over-18 crowd is because they’ve been filming the show in New Zealand since Wild Force. That, and Blake Foster was a special case. Part of the reason he was brought in was because Steve Cardenas, the guy that played Rocky, suffered an actual back injury (which they incorporated into the movie and official story), and needed a break from filming.

It’s always difficult to predict just what they’ll do, but if they do go by chance go with teenage characters again, they might just pick someone about your age. Like I said, you can never tell. Just keep checking in here over the next few months, see if any more news comes out. It’ll probably be easiest to subscribe to the blog by email (just click the button that says “Sign Me Up!” on the right), or follow me on Twitter.

As far as you doing MMA, I don’t think that’ll be too much of an issue, but I would look into some more acrobatic styles. You gotta put on a show, right?

      1. Thank you so much sir for replying back to my comments, and would you think incorporating my parkour skills with my martial arts would make things better for the audition process?

  11. I’ve been watching power rangers for awhile now I watched Lost Galaxy Turbo In Space Mighty Morphin Mystic Force Wild Force Jungle Fury and thats its and I’m only 9 yrs old and I’m girl people think its weird for a 9 yr old girl to watch power rangers and like now power rangers is like the best show ever created so I’d really like to be emailed the details of the casting call but not for me for someone else. And props to you Saban! Thanks for bringing power rangers into my life.BTW my email is [removed by administrator]

    1. Usually, their looking for people in their late teens/early 20’s, mainly sticking with candidates old enough to ship off to New Zealand but young enough to play a convincing teenager role. But if they’re truly fair, they’ll give the role to whoever’s best for the position. Unfortunately, they’ve postponed casting for this season, and it’s not expected to resume until March/April 2012. You can read about it here: https://henshinhead.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/power-rangers-2013-casting-postponed-so-what-are-we-gonna-do-saban/. I’ll try to let everyone know if I hear anything about it.

Just keep holding on to your dreams!

  12. Please email me for specific dates and times to go for casting call interviews.
can i get more information on how to do my audition tape.
i like to execute my flips more properly with the right training. i don’t want to endanger myself until i am trained with the professionals. Not afraid but just the consequences of not executing properly. Acting is easy and not hitting your enemy all that hard, it is just a fast reaction to its movements. I dreamed of be an actor especially in power rangers that symbolizes the lesson in life.

  13. what are the odds of some one from small tulsa ok making it to be a power ranger ive alwayas wanted to try and my 3 kids would flip if they saw daddy as a ranger so where and who do i talk to please comment me back thank you.

    1. Well, first, let me point you to a newer post about this: https://henshinhead.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/henshinhead-exclusive-official-character-breakdowns-for-next-power-rangers-series-seriously/ It has the most recent casting information on it. I’m not sure if they’re still holding casting calls for the next series of Power Rangers, the last thing I heard about it was in September, but I think you could still throw your hat in the ring if you wanted. There’s a few links in that newer article you can follow, and hopefully you’ll still be able to submit your information to them. I have to warn you though, filming for the series will take place in New Zealand for about 6-8 months, with up to 15 hours a day of filming. You think you’ll be able to handle that?

  14. Henshinhead I am curious as to know who to send an audition tape too? I am extremely determined to follow my dream of becoming a Ranger. I’m taking any help I possibly can right now, thank you!

    1. Well, here’s the thing Aaron, it looks like for right now, the big casting call thing was cancelled, so I’m not sure what they plan on doing. If I find out anything, I’ll be sure to write a follow-up story on it. I’m about to follow another lead, see if that takes me anywhere, hopefully we’ll find out something soon. Just keep holding onto that dream!

  15. Hi. I would like to know if there’s any information about the castings like where they are being held at and how long they will be held. I have a feeling that I will not be able to audition for this season but I would like to know this information for the future casting calls

    1. No idea yet, but I will let everyone know when I find out. Just keep checking in over the next month or so, supposedly that’s when they’ll formally announce the casting calls. If I had to guess though, then I would think that the call-back auditions will be held in California, probably LA, and filming will most likely take place in New Zealand. Think you might be able to squeeze any of that into your schedule? 😛

  16. Hello , Am a Martial Artist and Actor (17 years ) do you need to be specific with your
Audition tape ,For example : Show alot of the work you done in the past or some kind of made up story line .. Well thanks for the Annoucement , Its been previlge

    -Miguel Fils-Aime

    1. Well Miguel, that’s an interesting question. I guess it really depends on what you would like to put together, and on what the casting directors will be looking for. Since it’s going to be for Power Rangers, then I would suggest showcasing as much of your acting and martial arts skills as you can. If you have a good amount of material on hand already (preferably anything recent), then I don’t think they [casting directors] would be opposed to a short 3-5 minute audition tape featuring that footage (assuming either you or someone else could edit it together into a good video). But I have also seen audition tapes that featured an original storyline and choreography, but again, it comes down to what you would think shows off your skills the most. I’m not a casting agent, I’m not someone who has any experience in this field, but I’ve learned enough about the process that I know what they’ll be looking for. Just remember, introduce yourself at the beginning, tell them why you think you would be good for the part your going for (I’m not sure what they’re looking for yet, so feel free to check back in over the next month or so), and be sure that, whatever you end up doing for your audition tape, it shows off as much of your acting and martial arts skills as it can.

      Good luck Miguel!

      -M.C., the Quantum Twin

BTW, sorry this explaination is so lengthy. 😛

      1. Thanks.. It’s an honor for you to write back , right now am looking forward to play
the Red Ranger role if God is willing , But hopefully everything goes well with you .
Good luck to the fullest !

        – Miguel Fils-Aime

      2. Sometimes it can go either way. If there’s a role you just think you’d be perfect for, then go for it. It’s just that simple. Of course, that doesn’t always work out for whatever reason (just part of the process, Miguel), but that’s okay, just think of it as a learning experience and either try again, or try out for something else. Don’t fret, though. It’s not uncommon for someone who tried out for one role to be rejected for that one, but recommended for another by the casting people themselves. Some big name actors started out that way, and it worked out quite well for them. I guess what I’m trying to say is, just go for it, cuz you’ll never know what will happen until you actually try. 🙂

Again, good luck to you Miguel. I sincerely hope you get to be Red Ranger some day. I’ll be looking for your name in the opening credits. 😛

        -M.C., the Quantum Twin

P.S., I’m not planning on trying out myself, but thanks for the words of encouragement.

  17. Yeah, just wanted to say quickly for everyone who may or may not ask, there hasn’t been any confirmation on what series they’ll be adapting next. That’s why I didn’t mention anyything in the post. Almost everyone in the blogging realm believes that it will most likely be a Goseiger adaption (sorry to disappoint you, [?]). There’s a whole laundry list of reasons why they think that, but I’d rather not discuss that in a comment.

  18. I hope its Gokaiger not Gosei that series sucked i have a great name for the gokaiger series Power rangers Pirate SQUAD where 5 treasure hunters must get together and save Eltar

    1. I like the idea of having to save Eltar (sp?), and I’ve always thought they should do something more with the whole idea of Zordon’s homeworld on Power Rangers. Even if Zordon is dead, his world is not, and he is still in many original fans’ minds, the very heart and soul of every team of Power Rangers. Maybe they’ll do something like that….
